Sonya Joy Starkweather, loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Jan. 23, 2005. She was born on April 15, 1933 in Los Angeles, Calif.
She later relocated to Seattle with her parents, Doris and Earl Sumner. She attended Franklin High School. She married Fred Starkweather in 1952. The couple raised four children. She enjoyed caregiving, bowling, camping and her animals.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Fred Starkweather; sons Freddy, Reny and John; daughter Sandra; daughter-in-law Christy Starkweather; and grandchildren Amber Becky, Carrie and Kyle.
A funeral service will be held Feb. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Langley. Memorials in Mrs. Starkweather’s name should go to Skagit Hospice, P.O. Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
