Sue Ellen Christensen, 81, passed away at home on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in the care of her loving family. Sue was born September 30, 1941, to Allen and Helen
(Kirkpatrick) Seekins in Kalispell, Montana. She was the youngest of three children, with an older sister Sharie and older brother Kirk, both of whom she adored. She loved growing up in Montana, in a time of ice skating, square dances, phosphate lime sodas, and riding the train. She lived in the Montana towns of Sunburst, Kalispell, Geraldine, and Havre. She made dear friends and cherished memories in each of these places, which she talked about with pleasure.
In 1955, Sue and her family moved to Oak Harbor, Washington. She graduated from Oak Harbor High where she met and later married, Ronald Ellison Christensen in 1959. Ron and Sue made their home together in Dugualla Bay near Ron’s family farm, where they worked the land, raised four children, worshipped God, and worked to spread the gospel through many wonderful Christian fellowship organizations, most-recently,
Riverflow Church in Oak Harbor. They later welcomed 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They were married for 63 years.
Sue was a passionate, spirit-filled Christian who loved Jesus from her first awareness of him. She adored life, beauty, and the tiniest homey things. She sewed beautiful garments for her family, loved cooking and baking, gardening, hosting holidays, playing the piano and singing, writing, painting, adventures with Ron, and fun times with her family and friends. She took beautiful photos and made delicious pies.
Sue is survived by her beloved husband, Ron Christensen of Oak Harbor, their four children, Troy Christensen of Coupeville, Kim Christensen of Bellevue, Amy Christensen of Bothell, and Brian Christensen and his wife, Kimberley of Oak Harbor; 10 grandchildren, Erin Pankow Alexander and her husband, Christopher of Entiat, Anne Pankow of Wenatchee, Christina Boyett and her husband, Ryan of Richmond, BC, Carly
Lopit of Everett, Joseph Christensen of Washington DC, Eric Lopit of Bellingham, and Oliver, Paige, Mackenzie, and Flynn Christensen of Oak Harbor; and three great-grandchildren, Clara, Simon, and Felix Boyett. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene and Vernon Kingma of Camano Island, and her sister-in-law, Nora Seekins of Great Falls, Montana, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews,
grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, and precious friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharie Temperly and husband Robert of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, and her brother Kirk Seekins of Great Falls, Montana.
Funeral services and reception will be held at Wallin-Stucky Funeral Home in Oak Harbor at 10:30am on Saturday, December 17. Burial will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
