Virginia Davis was born Virginia Anne Chapin in Langley, Washington on February 6, 1945, to parents Harry Samuel Chapin and Ellen Mae Chapin Deer. She passed peacefully with family in Langley on November 15, 2024.
Virginia grew up on Whidbey Island graduating from Langley High School in 1963. She got a nursing degree after high school and was a nurse for 45 years. She worked in Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Ankara, Turkey over five years traveling with her husband an Army Air Force medic. Virginia then moved back to Whidbey Island in 1972 where she enjoyed the rest of her nursing career and full life. After retirement, Virginia volunteered as an EMT on South Whidbey and at Good Cheer Food Bank in Bayview. Medical service was her career passion. Loving family and helping others has always been her joy in life. She enjoyed spending time with friends she cherished, many of whom she had known for decades and even since childhood. Virginia enjoyed many hobbies over the years making gifts for everyone she has known and donating to local charities. Knitting, crocheting, stained glass, drawing, painting, coloring, and so many creative projects making and decorating gifts for those she has loved over the years. Everything pink, garage sales, secondhand stores, snowmen, everything Christmas and playing cards brought her joy.
Virginia is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, sister Shirley, Husbands Raymond Franklin Kuntzelman Jr, Bronislav Ben Michael Yanda, and Joe Paul Sheliet Davis, her son in law Brian Heggenes, and son Raymond Franklin Yanda-Kuntzelman III. She is survived by sisters Sandy, Jane, and Mary Jane, brother David, children Debbie and Jim Ogden, Alexandria and Jordan Boyer, Mikah and Cora Janda, Cassandria, and Chad Huben, Andria Hugeness, Marie Saltwick-Delaney, and Sophie Zucca, grandchildren Angelica Janda and Couran Therien, Samantha and Edison Bergsma, Tyler Heggeness and fiancée Hanni Rizk, Anna Williams, Amie and Sam Wetherford, and great grandchildren Amos and Otis Bergsma, Christian Ogden, Stuart Williams, and Gary, Nicholas and Gracie Wetherford.
Her joy, kindness, uplifting nature, humor, zest for life and passion for everyone will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
In lieu of a memorial service it is her wish that everyone share their memories, gifts, and connections with everyone the rest of their lives.
In lieu of flowers, she has requested donations be made anonymously or in her name to the South Whidbey Good Cheer Food Bank.
“Where you are surrounded by the memories and presence of those you love is where God exists.”
