Virginia Erickson
Virginia (Ginger) Erickson died peacefully Oct. 26, 2014. Ginger was born April 1, 1922, to David and Elizabeth Bell. She grew up in Lake Forest Park, then moved to Seattle, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1940.
Ginger met Gordon Erickson at a Bayview dance on Whidbey Island. They married and spent 70 years together living in Clinton, Whidbey Island, then Seattle, then finally on Bells Beach, Whidbey Island. They raised four sons.
Ginger was predeceased by her Gordon in 2010, son Stanley (Sandy) in 2005 and daughter-in-law Kathy (Joe) in 2005. She was also predeceased by brother Fred Bell and sisters Olive Nelson and Ruth Jacobson. She is survived by sisters Winnie McLeod and Bonnie Miller. Ginger leaves behind Dale Erickson, Bruce Erickson (Kathleen) and Joe Erickson (Molly); Sandy’s wife Patti Erickson; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
While raising her four boys, Ginger helped her husband Gordon develop Real Estate on Whidbey Island and worked for a short period as a Real Estate broker. Ginger and Gordon had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world, but they especially loved their many voyages to the San Juan, Canada and Alaska in their small cruisers. Ginger greatly enjoyed her family and friends on Bells Beach, as well as many other dear friends on Whidbey Island and beyond. She had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh and loved to sing and seemed to be the one who always knew all the words.
She was an absolute treasure as a mother and grandmother and was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
