Wilhelmina “Billie” Swenson, 98, passed away peacefully Nov. 13, 2002, at Your Home on the Harbor in Freeland.
She was born to A.J. and Emma Fogelson on Sept. 19, 1904, on a farm near Skyberg, Minn. She was educated in country schools and at the Agricultural College of the University of Minnesota, where she graduated with honors in 1923. She married Bernhard C. Swenson in 1925. He preceded her in death in 1971. The couple resided in Minnesota until 1956 and then in Alexandria, Va., until 1971. Mrs. Swenson lived in Sun City, Ariz., for more than 20 years, until she came to live with her son, David, in Langley in 1995.
Her brother, George, preceded her in death at age 96.
Mrs. Swenson is survived by her sister, Louise Swenson, who is 100; two sisters-in-law, Clara Hovland and Eda John; two sons, Sherman (Emily) and David; three granddaughters, Karen (Andrew) Tainter, Maria (John) Bush and Laura (David) Burroughs; and seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Emma, and Daniel Tainter, Murphy and Zachary Bush, and Brooke and Heather Burroughs.
She will be buried beside her husband in Norseland, Minn. Services will be held at Norseland Lutheran Church.
