Woody was born December 11, 1945 in Glendale, CA to Paula Swan and Elliott Morris, joining older brother Lance. His given name Gregory was soon replaced with “Woody” when his mother declared he had a wooden head due to constantly running into things. He spent his high school years in Bakersfield, CA.
In 1966 he joined the Navy, serving 4 years as Quartermaster 2nd Class SS/Diver on a submarine stationed in Hawaii where he also became the boat’s artist. After discharge in 1970 Woody stayed in Hawaii for over 20 years where his son Mat was born in 1974. He built his custom design firm of trophies and awards for clubs and events including Iron Man medals.
Woody moved to Redmond, WA in 1989. In 1992 he married the love of his life, Denise, welcoming her children Travis and Heather Kuehn into his life with son Mat.
Woody and Denise moved to Whidbey Island in 1995. He started his company Waterscapes building custom ponds, waterfalls, and fountains for homes and businesses all over Puget Sound. Retiring in 2021 he focused on his art in various mediums including stone sculpting, acrylic painting, and glass work. His studio was in the Freeland Arts building where he worked beside his best friends. He loved them all so much. Woody was also known for his beloved Chow dogs, and his pups were always with him in his truck.

Woody left his earthly body and the pain of a 4 year battle with prostate cancer Oct. 7.
