Worrell Leroy Richter, 61, a resident of Bend, Ore. died June 24, 2008.
He was born on May 27, 1947 in Tacoma to Worrell and Jean (Petersen) Richter. He graduated from high school in Kimball, Neb., and married his high school sweetheart, Laura Griffith on
Aug. 20, 1965, in Sterling, Colo.
Worrell worked in oil fields in Nebraska and Colorado for about 20 years. He owned and operated a tool rental store on Whidbey Island. Richter moved to Bend in May 2002.
He was very active in the Republican Party. He was a member of the Christian Life Center in Bend. He loved piloting, golfing and fishing, but his family was always number one.
Richter is survived by his wife Laura Richter of Bend; father and step-mother Worrell and Emma Jean Richter of Maple Valley; two sons, Brett of Langley and Scott of Orting; daughter Andrea Porter of Bend; brother Dennis of Kirkland; four sisters, Pam Wakefield of Bonney Lake, Misty Beck of Inglewood, Calif., Maria Strickland and Valerie Moceri of Auburn; and grandchildren Chelsey and Paige Richter, David and Rebekah Porter, and Taeya and Griffith Richter. He is also survived and loved by Griff and Wanda. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Sami.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 28 at Christian Life Center, in Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to your local hospice or to Caring for Troops. Arrangements are by Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home.
