The Cedarcrest High School softball team finished the Cascade Conference season unbeaten by topping South Whidbey 12-2 in the regular-season finale Thursday, May 10, in Langley.
The Red Wolves are 15-0 in league, 18-2 overall. Although South Whidbey fell to 7-8 (10-10) and into fourth place, it held on to the top spot among 1A schools and will be get No. 1 seed out of the conference into the 1A district tournament.
The Falcons open district play at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Sedro-Woolley’s Janickii Fields.

The game was tied 1-1 after three innings, then the Red Wolves pulled away.
Cedarcrest’s Michaela Carter and Cassidy Derieg combined to pitch a five-hitter, singles by Natalie Wilmoth, Mackenzee Collins, Bella Northrup, Shelby Campbell and Makenna Morley.
Katelynn Smith led Cedarcrest with three hits, including two home runs, and five RBI.
Collins pitched for the Falcons and struck out 18. Half of the 12 runs were unearned as the Falcons committed five errors in the game.
