Talented Seattle Academy blanked the South Whidbey High school tennis team 5-0 Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Amy Yee Center in Seattle.
“Seattle Academy is loaded, even more so than last year,” South Whidbey coach Karyle Kramer said. “They are strong all the way down the line.”
The Cardinals return Ezra Magaram, who placed third in singles in the state tournament last spring. Also back is Anders Gibbons, who won the bi-district doubles title as a freshman and then skipped the state tournament to compete in national events. This year he is teamed up with his twin brother, Tate, in first doubles.
Kramer liked the effort of her squad: “Our guys didn’t fold and didn’t go out with a defeatist attitude, so I’m proud of them for that.”
South Whidbey (0-3) plays Bear Creek at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Marymoor Park.
