Persistence and breaks finally flew the Falcons’ way as they picked up their first win of the season. South Whidbey defeated Granite Falls 10-9.
Trailing 3-0 by the fourth inning, the Falcons scored most of runs in an inning for the season with eight.
After three walks and a Tiger error, the Falcons got three straight singles from Cameron Wildes, Zeke Spalding and Spencer Koszarek, which sparked the eight runs.
Granite Falls answered with six runs in the bottom of the fourth. Four of those runs were unearned on an error, and Granite Falls regained the lead, 9-8.
In the top of the sixth inning, Michael Agate reached first base on a Tiger error. Aaron Curfman double to right center which put runners on second and third bases. Jack Lewis then drove a single to center field and both runners scored to give the Falcons a 10-9 lead. Austin Bennett was 2-for-2 and Wildes was 2-for-4.
