On the strength of their 71-55 win over Cedarcrest this weekend, the South Whidbey boys basketball team has gained a guaranteed 2A District playoff spot in the Cascade Conference.
It’s the second year in a row for the fighting Falcons (6-4 in the league, 11-5 overall).
They join Archbishop Murphy (10-0, 12-3 overall) as the top two teams in the league in the 2A classification.
Second-year Falcon coach Scott Collins knows who’s responsible.
“Our seniors — Chris Carey, Jeff Brasko, Adrian Cortes and Scott Stallman — made a commitment to me the first day I took the job,” Collins said. “They have been committed to the program not only during the season but in the off season too, going to team camp and playing in the spring, summer and fall for us. They have really improved as basketball players.”
At 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 the boys welcome the King’s Knights to Erikson Gym, with the girls game following at 7 p.m.
