South Whidbey boys basketball defeated Lakewood 48-31 on Jan. 15 to improve to 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the Cascade Conference. The Falcons had a balanced attack, with two players scoring in the double digits and three others scoring over five points. Falcon senior Chase White and sophomore Lewis Pope scored 11 points apiece, while junior Maxfield Friedman was second in scoring with eight points.
The Falcons are one game behind Sultan in the league standings. South Whidbey will need to beat out the Turks in order to secure the third and final seed in the Class 1A Northwest District 1 playoffs. Class 1A league competitors King’s and Cedar Park Christian hold the first and second seeds, respectively.
