Big plays were the norm for South Whidbey’s football team Friday night when it went against Sultan.

It just also happened to be a norm for the Turks on Sultan’s homecoming night. Sultan scored four plays of 20 yards or longer, and ran in a total of five touchdowns and another receiving touchdown to beat South Whidbey 48-28.

South Whidbey’s senior core connected early with the passing game. Falcon senior quarterback Nick French threw a 58-yard touchdown to senior Kale Reichersamer and a 48-yard touchdown pass to senior Nick Bennett in the first quarter.

French followed up with a 47-yard touchdown strike to senior running back Cooper Nichols in the second quarter. Nichols connected on all four of the Falcons’ extra-point kicks.

Sultan’s defense stiffened out of the halftime break and kept South Whidbey scoreless in the third quarter.

An ankle injury bumped French out of the game, bringing in backup junior Parker Collins.

In the waning minutes of the game, Collins threw a 10-yard touchdown to Bennett.
