Eight Falcon first-place finishes propelled South Whidbey’s girls track-and-field team to victory against Granite Falls and host school Cedarcrest.

Six different Falcons accounted for the eight first-place finishes on Thursday. Sophomore thrower Angelina Berger won first place in the shot put, javelin and discus. Berger set a career-high in the shot put at 34 feet, 11 inches. Conversely, she threw her season’s worst mark in the javelin at 96 feet, 4 inches.

Sophomore sprinter Anna Hood ran the 100-meter race in 14.08 seconds. The mark set Hood’s career-best time.

Hood also won third place in the 200 meters with 29.9 seconds.

Sylvie Kaul-Anderson, a sophomore, won the 100-meter hurdles in 21.98 seconds. She also placed third in the 300-meter hurdles in 57.48 seconds.

South Whidbey senior distance runner Emily Martin won the 400-meter race in 1 minute, 5.09 seconds.

Lillianna Stelling won the 800-meter race in 2 minutes, 32.67 seconds.

Falcon junior Bailey Auburn won the long jump with a mark of 13 feet, 8.5 inches. Auburn also took second place in the 100 meters in 14.24 seconds.

Senior thrower Kelsey Engstrom placed second in the discus (81 feet, 3 inches) and shot put (30 feet, 5.75 inches).

Granite Falls finished in second place with 50.5 points, and Cedarcrest was third with 48.5 points.
