Falcon girls win a couple, lose a couple

“The Lady Falcons won the first game by showcasing the pitching of Rebecca Stratton, who struck out eight Lakewood batters in a row,” said Falcon coach Chuck Burton.

“Last Friday, the Wolves came to South Whidbey looking for their first league win, but had trouble dealing with the hot bat of Melanie Murphy, who blasted a home run over the left field fence to help the girls win the game 6-2. Katy Piehler was the winning pitcher, getting her first league victory.”

Then, the dreaded spring break syndrome struck, and with players away on vacation, South Whidbey lost to Archbishop Murphy 5-4, then suffered a 9-0 shutout by Granite Falls on Wednesday.

At 4 p.m. Monday, April 13 the girls plan to rally with a win over visiting Sultan.
