South Whidbey’s track and field teams finished their regular seasons at the Cascade Conference championship meet with some dominating performances last week.

Falcon senior runner Lillianna Stelling blasted her competition in the 3,200-meter race and smashed the conference record. Stelling ran the two-mile race in 11:12.71, besting the league’s record by 10 seconds and only three seconds shy of the school’s all-time record set by Megan Maynard, a Washington State University All-American, in 1997. Her time has Stelling ranked as the second-fastest 1A 3,200 runner behind Cedar Park Christian’s Sally Larson, 10:31.

Angelina Berger, a couple of weeks after breaking her own school record, won the discus and shot put at the conference championship. Kristen Schuster, a sophomore, placed second in the discus.

Nora Felt, a senior, finished second in the 1600-meter at the Cascade Conference title meet.

Senior sprinter Anna Hood placed second in the 200.

For the Falcon boys, junior Nick French set a career mark in the javelin to win the Cascade Conference Championship at 182 feet, 6 inches. French is ranked first in 1A state javelin and fifth on South Whidbey’s all-time leaderboard.
