The Kamiak High School swim team won a showdown at Shorecrest 97-89 Tuesday, Sept. 25, and four South Whidbey athletes were part of the action.
The Falcons, who train with Kamiak, do not score team points for the Knights.
South Whidbey’s Ashley Lynch recorded the best finish by a Falcon, taking fifth in the 100 backstroke in a district qualifying time of 1:11.46.
Anna Bennett also earned a district qualifying time while placing seventh in the 50 freestyle (29.64); she was also eighth in the 100 free (1:08.06).
Katie Zundel clocked her own district time as she took eighth in the 200 individual medley (2:2:48.34). She added a seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:20.01).
Sarah Zundel was eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:31.96) and ninth in the 50 free (35.22).
The Falcon foursome was sixth in the 200 medley relay (2:30.2) and 200 free relay (2:08.19).
Lynch swam with three Kamiak girls on the fifth-place 400-free relay team (4:33.69).
The South Whidbey girls will represent the school and have a chance to score team points when they compete in the Mukilteo Invitational along with 550 other swimmers at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
