King’s defeated the host South Whidbey High School football team 30-13 Friday, Oct. 26, in a battle for second place in the final North Sound Conference standings.
The Falcons (6-3) will now be the No. 3 seed out of the league into the district playoffs and will face the Northwest Conference’s top 1A school, Meridian (6-3), at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Anacortes High School. The winner will advance to the 16-team state tournament; the loser is out.
King’s used a punishing running attack to subdue the Falcons. Josiah Seirs and Casey Needham combined for 340 yards, and each rushed for two touchdowns.
South Whidbey took a 7-3 lead in the first quarter when Alex Black scored on a 1-yard pass from Kody Newman. From there it was all King’s as the Knights scored four unanswered touchdowns to go up 30-7.
Newman paced the Falcon attack by completing nine of 14 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.
South Whidbey scored the game’s final points when CH Chapman returned a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown.
