In the first three-game series of the young season, the South Whidbey baseball team swept aside the Sultan Turks for the third straight victory of the season, 6-1.

Strong pitching by the Falcon starters and potent bats proved the undoing of the young Turks. Adam Babcock went six strong innings to pick up his first win on the mound.

Batters were led by senior captain Nick Tenuta, who hit 2-for-3 with a double and homer, producing two runs and two RBIs.

Lucas Yale led off the game with a base on balls. Yale was then sacrificed to second by Robert Kirby’s perfect bunt. Tenuta then doubled home Yale for the first run of the game.

Luke Hodson followed with an infield single to put two runners on. After Hodson stole second, Eric Sparks stepped to the plate and promptly drove in the two runners.

The Falcons struck again in the bottom of the third when Tenuta picked up his first long ball of the season with a shot over the left field fence, making the score 4-1.

The highlight of the game came in the fifth inning when Colton Wilson made his first appearance in two years after his battle with cancer. Wilson stepped to the plate to lead off the inning and promptly lined the first pitch into center field for his first hit of the season. When he came back to the dugout, there were hugs, high fives and a few tears.

At 3:30 p.m. today, the team welcomes Friday Harbor to Falcon Field.
