South Whidbey and the other Washington high school football teams hit the practice field for the first time this season Wednesday, Aug. 21.
All other fall sports begin Monday, Aug. 26.
The Falcon football team faces its first competition at the King’s Jamboree at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. The regular season begins when South Whidbey travels to Friday Harbor for a 6:30 p.m. game Friday, Sept. 6.
The first home game is 7 p.m. the following Friday, Sept. 13, with West Seattle. The first North Sound Conference match is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, when Sultan comes to town.
The South Whidbey tennis team starts the regular season with a league match at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Coupeville. The initial home match is 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with Bush.
The Falcon soccer team kicks off the competitive season at the Kamiak Jamboree at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. South Whidbey hosts Oak Harbor at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the season-opener. The first league match is 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, against visiting Cedar Park Christian.
The South Whidbey volleyball team opens the season with three straight home matches, beginning with Mariner at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. After Friday Harbor visits at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Falcons host Sultan in the league opener at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24. The annual South Whidbey Invitational is slated for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Falcon cross country team goes to River Meadows Park in Arlington for the North Sound Conference Preview Thursday, Sept. 12. The starting time is to be determined.
South Whidbey hosts the 41st annual Carl Westling Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21.
