The Falcon baseball team had plenty of time for warm-up Thursday. Maybe too much, as the late-arriving Friday Harbor Wolverines shut them down 7-0.

The game was delayed for almost two hours when the ferry Elwha experienced problems and was late arriving at the Anacortes dock.

It was South Whidbey’s first loss of the season, especially galling as the Wolverines hail from a 1A school. The Falcons are 3-0 in league action, 4-1 overall.

Friday Harbor is 4-1 for the season; it placed fifth in state last year.

Friday Harbor pitchers Albert Strasser and Sean Cutting claimed the win; Falcon pitcher Adam Babcock was roasted over four innings and the Falcon bats were silent. Center fielder Nick Tenuta singled and stole his way to second base in the first inning, but it was all downhill from there for South Whidbey.
