It was all pitching for the South Whidbey baseball team as Falcon senior Craig Hawkinson fired a complete-game no-hitter for his first varsity win as a Falcon. Hawkinson struck out 13 hitters and walked four while going the distance against Chief Sealth for the 6-1 win.

The only run given up by Hawkinson came in the fourth inning; Sealth batter Daniel Davis walked, then stole second, moved to third on a ground ball, then scored on a passed ball.

Aaron Curfman, running for Hawkinson, got to third on a Dalton Smith single to left, then scored on a Robert Kirby sacrifice fly to center.

In the fourth inning, the Falcons picked up four runs, including Ben Ross, Hawkinson, Smith and Michael Agate.

“Duck Hanna delivered the crushing blow with a two-RBI double over the right fielder’s head,” said Falcon coach Dave Guetlin.

In the fifth inning, Austin Bennett led off with a double and was promptly driven in by TJ Fallon with a line-drive single up the middle.

South Whidbey is now 5-0 in the Cascade Conference. Next week, the boys settle in for a three-game stand against Cedarcrest, also undefeated at 5-0. The lone home game is 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 at Falcon Field.
