Archbishop Murphy’s offense was in high gear as the Wildcats defeated the South Whidbey High School baseball team 12-1 in five innings Monday, March 26, in Everett.
Archbishop Murphy (2-0, 6-1) scored two or more runs in each inning and piled up 12 hits in just four innings of work.
South Whidbey scored its only run in the fourth inning. Nick Young walked, went to second on Alex Black’s single, stole third and scored on an error.
Black finished with two hits for the Falcons; Ethan Petty doubled; and Kody Newman and Dex Jokinen added singles.
South Whidbey failed to take advantage of scoring opportunities, leaving 11 men on base — eight in scoring position — all with less than two outs. The Falcons ended all but one inning with a strikeout.
South Whidbey (1-2, 2-3) and Archbishop Murphy meet again at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in Langley.
