The Falcon baseball team lost a non-conference game to the Bellingham Red Raiders 8-3.

South Whidbey’s bats came alive after a scoreless first game during a double-header last week. Another pitcher emerged as Mason Shoudy threw in his first varsity game. Shoudy gave up four runs in the first inning but threw three shutout innings after that.

In the second inning, the Falcons platted two runs to tighten the game at 4-2. Michael Agate led the inning off with a single then stole second base. Agate scored on Riley Newman’s single for the first run. Newman stole both second base and third, then scored on a passed ball.

With one out in the fourth inning, Shoudy smashed a drive to left-center field for a double. He advanced to third base on a ground ball then scored on Aaron Curfman’s single, making the score 6-3.

Bellingham scored two more runs off of Falcon errors in the top of the seventh inning. South Whidbey failed to rally and the Red Raiders improved to 2-0.
