Seahawks sink Falcons / Boys basketball

The Anacortes High School boys basketball team used a long-range attack to build an early lead and then went on to stop visiting South Whidbey 56-44 Monday, Dec. 30.

The Falcons take a 7-2 record into league play, opening North Sound Conference action at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, in Sultan (1-6).

Anacortes drilled five three-pointers in the first quarter to grab a 22-16 lead and added two more in the second period to go up 36-24 at halftime.

South Whidbey’s Carson Wrightson scored 9 points in the third quarter as the Falcons gained a little ground and trailed 47-37 going into the final period.

Wrightson finished with 15 points, and Nick Young chipped in with 12.

Sterling Patton had 8, Levi Buck 4, Dexter Jokinen 3 and Jacob Ng 2.

Three Seahawks (5-4) scored in double figures, led by Michael Aggergaard with 14.
