South Whidbey softball was defeated 3-1 by Nooksack Valley in the first round of the 1A District 1 tournament May 19. The Falcons play Mount Baker in a loser-out game May 21, the winner of which qualifies for the class 1A state championships.
South Whidbey is currently 4-17 overall, after finishing 3-15 in the Cascade Conference and second in the league’s 1A standings; there are only three teams in the league. The team ended its regular season on a high note after defeating Lakewood 5-3 in the final home game of the season.
