The South Whidbey Little League All Stars 10/11 magical run in the state playoff tournament came to an end after a 6-3 loss to Bellevue.

The South Whidbey team finished the tourney 1-2. The team — the reigning District 11 champs — claimed a first-round win over Lacamas.

But the team then fell to West Seattle, 9-6, in the second game before facing Bellevue in a loser-out contest.

Will Simms, Connor Antich and Trenton Piehler took the mound for South Whidbey against Bellevue, but the ample offense of the Eastside team proved too much for the South End squad.

“We had great outfield play from Tyler Heggenes, Hunter Newman, Josiah Colby, Austin Heston,” said South Whidbey Coach Craig Antich.

“The boys played hard all week; we were in every game,” he added. “They gained valuable experience on a big stage, and are looking forward to next year.

“I am very proud to have managed a great group of boys,” he said.

The coach also praised the work of those who helped get the team to the postseason.

“I would like to thank my staff: Bill Patterson, Eddie Sergeant, Paul Divina and Matt Simms. Thanks to all the parents who were very supportive and flexible with their schedules,” he said.
