Putting together another strong performance in a big meet, the South Whidbey High School boys track team placed second at the 18-team Bellevue Christian Invitational Saturday, April 27, at Interlake High School.
Montesano won the boys meet with 107 points, edging the Falcons with 99.5.
The South Whidbey girls finished ninth with 35 points; host Bellevue Christian took the title with 163.
The boys earned firsts from Michael Cepowski (3,200, 10:21.72), Kole Nelson (110 hurdles, 15.85) and the 4×400 relay team (Nelson, Cody Eager, Carl Henri Chapman, Callahan Yale; 3:43).
Kaia Swegler Richmond captured the 1,600 (5:22.52) for the Falcon females only win.
South Whidbey will attempt to win the league championship when its competes in the North Sound Conference championships at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Granite Falls.
