Joining 33 other high schools and almost 1,000 runners, the South Whidbey High School cross country team ran in the Sunfair Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29, at Yakima’s Franklin Park.
Twelve different heats were held, and most combined boys and girls in the same race.
South Whidbey placed 15th in the boys team standings. Seven runners were used to determine team scores. The Falcons girls did not qualify for a team score.
The freshmen races covered 2 miles, while the others were 3.
South Whidbey will host a North Sound Conference meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.
