The South Whidbey fastpitch softball team pulled a come-from-behind 6-3 victory over the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats Monday.
The Wildcats scored twice in the first inning and once in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead in the game.
But that was as far as they got.
Falcons Melanie Murphy, Alannah Alber and Nicole Parra all scored to tie the game at 3-3.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, South Whidbey had a six-run rally that was highlighted by Falcon Allison Wood hitting a triple with the bases loaded. She scored three runs, said Falcon coach Don Wood.
“Katy [Piehler] pitched the whole game, only allowing six hits; the runs that were scored were unearned due to fielding errors,” he added.
Wood said that Chantal White in center field contributed some serious defensive fielding, covering numerous grounders and making key catches for outs in the seventh inning.
The team travels to Granite Falls (4-0) today, and welcomes Cedarcrest on April 16 to the home softball diamond.
