Sarah Zundel’s district qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke highlighted the efforts of South Whidbey simmers in Kamiak’s 105-65 loss to Jackson Thursday, Oct. 24, at West Coast Aquatics.
Zundel posted a 1:27.8 while placing seventh in the breaststroke, slipping under the district qualifying time of 1:27.99.
Teammates Ashley Lynch, Parker Forsyth, Abigail Ireland and sister Katie Zundel earlier met district standards in multiple events.
Forsyth’s fifth place in the breaststroke (1:19.5) was the highest individual finish by a Falcon Thursday. She was also eighth in the 100 butterfly (1:11.32).
Lynch (1:10.02) and Katie Zundel (1:11.45) went 7-8 in the 100 backstroke. Lynch added a seventh in the 100 freestyle (1:01.92), and Katie Zundel took 18th in the 50 free (31.6).
Devin King took 26th out of 54 in the 50 free (32.46).
Lynch, Forsyth, Katie Zundel and Ireland placed fifth in the medley relay (2:12.55); and Forsyth, Ireland, Sarah Zundel and King were sixth in the 200 free relay (2:07.51).
This was the final dual meet of the season for Kamiak. The JV championship meet, which gives swimmers one last shot at a district qualifying time, is 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Kamiak.
South Whidbey will compete in the 2A bi-district meet Nov. 8 and 9 in Anacortes.
